Maintenance Is Key

Consistency and attention to detail is the most important issue here, caring for Ice Skates is not at all time consuming, but it is an essential task if your skates are to last you a long time, on the other hand if not maintained properly could be ruined within weeks or months.

It is essential that when you are off the ice and still wearing skates you must ensure that you wear plastic or rubber skate guards over your skate blades, these will protect the blades from hard surfaces that will ruin a well sharpened blade.  The most important thing is when not in use this particular type of Skate Guard should not be left on the blade, as this will trap moisture in the Skate Blade, they are only used for walking off the ice.

The minute you are off the ice your skate blade will need your immediate attention, in terms of manually drying the blades after skating, this should be an immediate part of your routine never ever leave the skate to dry off later.

It is important to know that after drying your skates especially the metal parts, cover the blades with fabric blade covers, as these guards will absorb any remaining moisture.  Never use plastic or rubber skate guards to store your skates these are only used for walking.

A few pointers for the novice, one hopes that the professionals will know just how to care for their equipment.  Skates should not be stored in a travel bag, the best routine a player can get into is to loosen the laces and pull the tongues forward, and lay the skates in a light dry place not put in direct sunlight or any heat source, the reason being the leather may crack.

Buying ice skates for recreational skating?

I like to go ice skating for fun during the winter, maybe once every two-three weeks or so. (not a figure skater unfortunately, so tricks and jumps aren't being taken into consideration.) I'm looking to buy a pair of (preferably new or lightly used below $40-ish ) skates for myself, and there are a few cheap vinyl pairs on ebay, by CCM, Lake Placid, Lange, American Athletic etc.

Do you think they are worth the investment for a beginner? My current top choice is a new pair of CCM women's skates around $20-$25, I believe leather or most likely vinyl, with a molded heel and sole and an SLM-tempered blade. Will the skate last for a few years? Is the material too unsturdy? Any other beginner brands you would recommend? I've seen some Jackson and Riedell skates but they're too expensive for the light skating I'm doing right now.

All tips, advice, and help welcome! Thank you very much :)

When i first started out i used SFR's. I thought/still think they were brilliant. I now have Jackson figure skates because i moved onto more advanced stuff, but i loved my SFR's. I think this might be a British company though, but they will deliver over seas. :)

My friend has a pair of lake placid's and he says they're good. If you cant get a hold of a pair of SFR's, then i recommend you get Lake Placid. Although my boots are leather, i think vinyl are quite good too. I had vinyl skates when i first started out (these were the SFR's) and they were good!

If you take care of your boots, then they will last you years. Make sure you tie them correctly. (Because i didn't do this, i lost use of my SFR's), whenever you go ice skating take a tea towel with you to dry your blades to prevent them from rusting, keep your blades sharp. (ever 3 months should do the trick)
Buy blade soakers to keep your blades dry in your bag until you take them home and dry them properly with your tea towel.

Buy blade guards to protect your blades while they are in your bag.
***All of this might sound a bit expensive but guards are like $4 and soakers are about $4***

When you get home put your boots in a warmish, ventilated room so that any other bits of water you might have missed can dry out.

When you first get in the ice with your new boots, you will need to break in your boots. I seriously recommend you buy your own boots, DO NOT get them second hand. This is because when you come to break them in, you might not be able to properly because they have being broken in by someone else.

This is my advice on how to break in your new ice skating boots:

I think the best way to break in new skates is to go skating in them. You can walk about the house in them in blade guards, but remember your boots need to be broken in to you skating, not sitting/standing. I got some new figure skates recently & i have already broken in 2 pairs of figure skates, so i know what i am talking about here.

When you get on the ice, you may feel a bit uncomfortable as it will be the first time you have skated in them.
There is the option of heat molding them to your feet. You need to ask your local skate shop and they should be able to do that for you. I have never done this before, so i don't know much...but from what i have heard it works well.

DO NOT do it yourself. This might sound a bit crazy but i have heard of people actually putting their skates in the oven and attempting to heat mold their own skates, which they end up ruining.

Also don't put on wet socks and try breaking them in that way. Figure skating boots are water proof on the outside for a reason and if your soaking the inside of your boot which is material, then it will keep hold of the moisture and you could end up ruining your boots. That too might sound a bit crazy but i have heard of people doing this in an attempt to break in their boots. I hope i have helped you out with my advice, i have being through this process before so i know what i am on about ;)

ice skates guards
Ice Skate Blade protection?

I just got ice skates of EBAY and I like them but the only thing missing is blade guards or some kind of protection for the blades. So i was wondering what I could do to protect my new skates? They`re size 9s, and how much would this cost to get whatever your going to recommend?

There are two types of blade protectors: Hard rubber guards and soft terrycloth soakers.

Hard rubber guards are used when walking around in skates. They protect the blades from the crap and grit on the flooring, and help cut down on sharpenings.

They come in two types: one-piece: http://www.planeticicle.com/graphics/product_images/Gua8gli_small.jpg and two-piece: http://www.rainbosports.com/shop/images/site_images/GDS5N09_l.jpg
I think the one-piece guards are easier to get on and off the skates.

Hard guards cost between $5 and $15 dollars. They're one-size-fits-all, but they have to be cut to fit your blade length plus 1 inch. If you can buy them from the pro shop, ask them to cut the guards to size. It's just easier and most places don't charge for the service. If that's not an option, use a sharp utility knife to carefully cut them after you measure twice. ;)

The second type of guards are soft terrycloth "soakers." You put these on your skates after you dry them thoroughly. As the blades warm up, moisture condenses on the metal. The soakers...SOAK UP...that moisture and help prevent rusting. (It's like a cold soda can on a hot day.)

http://www.rainbosports.com/shop/images/site_images/BLC2N_l.jpg

You'll need to buy the Large size for your blades. Cost: $10-25 each, depending on how fancy a pair you buy. If you don't want to buy them, just wrap an old, dry hand towel around each blade and rubber-band it on. Works just as well.

Have the pro shop check your blades to see if they need sharpening or corrections. If you don't skate regularly, coat the blade edges with vaseline or WD-40 before storing them.
That will prevent rust.

Take Proper Care of your Goalkeeper Gloves

Dedicated goalkeepers think goalkeeper gloves are just as vital as cleats. Goalkeeper gloves help the goalie control a shot while they also offer protection and comfort. If you want to be a good goalkeeper, you have to take good care of your protective equipment.

1. Proper Care of your Goalie Gloves

One must be aware that gloves do not last forever. Realistically when one pays more money for a glove, the grip will potentially be superior though the glove will age faster. Extremely Soft and sticky latex palms contained in expert standard gloves have a sturdy grip but are not durable at all. Game gloves that are extra tacky and have plenty of grip wear out quickly and may get flaky right off the bat. The problem isn't a matter of quality but rather related to the softness of the latex. You will have to give up some grip if you buy a glove with more durability. Match gloves generally will hold up for a dozen or so games prior to relegating them to the practice field. Some might last longer than a season, depending on how well a keeper treats the gloves, how they dive, how much stress they put the gloves through, and the type of playing surface used. It's up to you to find the right gloves within your price range.

2. Buy the Correct Size

Poorly fitting gloves can hurt performance as well as put extra stress on gloves. When gloves aren't the right size the hands can make the latex and bindings wear out prematurely. As you figure out your glove size, your fingers should extend from a quarter to a half inch within the glove's tip. It would be too much to have an inch or more.

3. Learn about palm latex

Buy gloves according to the playing area, temperature, and what you can afford. Be familiar with what type of glove and latex works optimally according to the climate, wetness, and game surface material. Soft and tacky top quality latex palms are suitable for all climates or in dry conditions, ought to be kept moistened during games. A wet weather glove needs to be cared for correctly. By soaking the glove before a match and again at the half-time point you extend the longevity of the glove. Only a glove made for wet weather is effective in the rain. Gloves intended for soil, turf or solid ground aren't water permeable, thus you shouldn't drench them in water since that just leaves them too slick. A very soft tacky glove will break apart on harsh indoor areas and on bad ground. Higher quality latex costs more and grips better, yet it is at the expense spectrum of sturdiness. Longer lasting gloves have a lesser grip.

4. Caring for gloves in a game

For soft latex gloves you should keep the palms moist with a little water. Spit can only do so much. Palms made of extra soft latex may get too slick if they are moist. Determine the right balance before your team plays so you don't have to wear sponges when you desire gripping strength the most.

5. Have gloves to train with

To guarantee that you’re game gloves are in very good shape don't use them for training. Purchase a training glove which is less expensive relative to others, so that it will withstand the beating it will get in training. For games, always use gloves in good condition and keep replacing them as they get worn, using old ones just for training. You should have a pair for games and a pair to train with.

6. Clean Your Gloves

* Perspiration and dirt cause a glove's latex to deteriorate. Soil will dehydrate the gloves and strip them of subtleness and softness. Over a period of time, the glove will be dried out by the toxins in your sweat. Saliva, sweat, and grime can be rinsed off the gloves after a game.

* Proper cleaning - Clean your gloves using water that is luke-warm. Remove the extra water by wringing the gloves, though please note that wringing cause rips at the seam. A delicate detergent can be use to get rid of the odor or for very messy jobs but it is unnecessary. Reusch manufactures a soap created for sensitive latex. Hang them to air dry. Absolutely, under no condition, should you ever speed up the drying process by using a blow dryer, the sun or a dehumidifier on your gloves. Avoid leaving gloves in a sunny, warm vehicle as all these things will suck the natural moisture out of the gloves, making them dry or brittle.

7. Appropriate storage

Once the match is over, never toss your gloves in a sack and leave them there till you need them again. If you are planning to play tomorrow, then just remove any surface dirt with a damp glove towel. Washing them before the next day’s game could mean the gloves will be too wet to use. If this is the situation, wrap up your gloves in a damp cloth so they can remain slightly moist for the next day's game. The last thing you need is to have your gloves dry with dirt and sweat still in the palm. Eventually dirt and perspiration will soak up the normal moisture and the glove will become dry, flaky and peel. Your gloves will begin to smell and grow fungi, if stored for more than a day. When you are not using your gloves, you need to store them properly, with the palms facing away from each other, so that they don't stick together or tear when you separate them. A glove bag is the best solution for storing your goalkeeper gloves. The latex needs to be exposed to the air.

Properly Sizing Goalie Gloves

1. This can take a little work because hand sizes will vary from goalkeeper to goalkeeper. There are not only small size variations between manufacturers, but also between less expensive training or practice gloves and game gloves as well as Jr. and adult sizes. Size 7 is a difficult size since some makers provide a Jr. 7 and a Senior 7.

Note: It is advisable for goalkeeping gloves to be a smidgen bigger than the hand size. The fingers of a goalie should not reach all the way to the very tip of the glove nor should they be surrounded by so much space as to make the glove floppy. If there isn't a ruler available, a good rule is to look for 1/4" to 1/2" over the end of your fingertip, or the length of a thumbnail.

*Below is advice for guessing size in a more efficient way. If there's no soccer store available in your area where you can try on a pair, here are a couple of commonly used methods of determining the proper size.

Choice 1* : Measure the area of the largest part of the palm without the thumb. Increase to the next highest inch. Add an extra inch to that measurement, and you will have your correct glove size.

Choice 2*: Take the measurement of your hand from the end of your middle finger to the spot where your thumb connects with your wrist. Your size should be rounded up to the higher inch. Increase the measurement by 1 inch to figure out your glove size. For instance, 7.5'" rounds up to 8", and adding 1 gives you 9". If your hand is 7 3/4", then, you'd wear a size 9.

2. After measuring both of your hands, order the size to fit the largest one. When trying to figure what size a keeper's gloves should be, note that the finger should be no less than a ¼ inch and ideally a full ½ inch from the top of the glove. The two measurements should match.

3. Be aware of the following Measurements for Glove Sizes

* Junior Size 4 or 5 - For a small size goalkeeper. This is for children aged 7 to 9. Size 5 usually will accommodate a height of 4'6" to 4'8" inches.
* Junior Sizes 6 and 7 - Youth goalies of medium to bigger size build. Ages 10 to 12. 4'10" in Height or Size 6 to 5'0" in Height or Size 7.
* Adult Size 7 - Small adult or broad youth keeper.
* Size 8 fits a smaller or medium sized adult goalkeeper. 5'2" to 5'4" in Height.
* Size 9 fits a medium sized adult goalie. 5'4" to 5'7" in Height.
* Size 10 - For a grownup keeper who wears a medium to large size. 5 feet 8 inches to 5 feet ten inches.
* Size 11 - large size goalkeeper 5'10" to 6'1".

(Hockey Skates) Bauer X:20 or Nike Bauer supreme one35 ?

looking to buy a first pair of ice skates. so i went through thw hole what brand to buy and everyone told me that pretty much every brand is good and it depends on the user. I have yet to go get fitted. but i have taken a liking to mostly Bauer. they seem to have the same amount of of options and perks. and in my opinion look the best. so these are the same price. and I was wondering which is better for what or why.

I have a hard time finding skates that don't hurt my feet but I've found eastons work best for me... At the moment I have Easton stealths. I really like them and they wernt that expensive.. They were like $150 I think. You really shouldn't go for all the special perks like lace locks or the buttons that inflate the ankle pads, they are honestly a waste of money and break, and in the case of lace locks are really annoying... Your best to go with normal skates without the flashy perks from what I've experienced and I've gone through many skates and tried pretty much everything.. I've played hcokey for 11 years now. Just go with what feels right it's temptng to go for looks really cool but just go with what fits... Don't sacificethe fit whatever you do. I've had to go all over town looking for ones that fit right. Hope this helps! Best of luck! :)

Are Nike Bauer Vapor Ice Hockey Skate good?

I'm thinking of getting these skates for my son because he's on a travel team and his skates dont fit and I want to know if they're good quality

Different brands of skates fit differently.

I'd go for fit first, brand second. I'm skating on a pair of low-end Vapors and they're fine.

As with sticks, skates are a fairly personal thing, and every skate has its own characteristics. I'm a fast skater, and my current Vapors pitch me forward just a little -- it's less good for when I'm playing D and doing a lot of backwards skating, but when I'm playing forward and really going all out to skate fast, that foot angle is great.

Among the Vapors there's difference in quality, too. Mine were cheap and you can tell... the rivets rusted out fast, and the blade steel is low quality... it rusts fast and needs sharpening oftener than my old pair of skates. I'm hoping to change the blades out this winter. The rust I can live with. Keeps my laces tight. :D

Illinois Storage Unit

Winter is still two weeks away; however, our merciless Mother Nature has started the cold season early as usual. Illinois's wintery climate is subject to icy roads and hazardous roadways. A slight sprinkle of water will freeze at temperatures near and above the freezing level resulting in conditions ideal for ice skating, not driving. According to the U.S. department of Transportation, over 450,000 injury crashes occur annually in adverse weather conditions. As a self storage insider, please drive carefully to your storage unit in Illinois this winter and follow these widely acknowledged safety tips.

Priority number one is packing a safety kit. Go to your storage unit in Illinois and retrieve that winter safety kit you stored last Spring. Take inventory; you should have an ice scraper, tire chains, sand or kitty litter, booster cables, small snow shovel, blanket, snow brush, flares, and flashlight. Give the flashlight fresh batteries and check the bulb. Remember, the kitty litter is not for Muffy; rather, it is use to regain traction if your wheels are stuck in a spin.

Get familiar with your vehicle. Knowing how to handle your vehicle and how it reacts in hazardous weather conditions is vital. Hitting the break pedal too hard will cause you to lose control of the car. See the recommendations that you owner's manual provides on braking and tire traction in hazardous weather. At slow speeds, try testing maneuvers in an empty snowy or icy parking lot.

When driving on slippery roads to your storage unit in Illinois, remember that every maneuver slows down. Drive, steer and brake more slowly than normal. Keep at least a 3 car distance from the car in front of you. Stopping takes twice as long compared to normal driving conditions. Be aware of the invisible presence of black ice. Black ice remains on roadways that are hidden from direct sunlight. It is common on roads that hug around lakes and rivers, in tunnels, on overpasses and in highly shaded, rural areas. Black ice is virtually invisible, so be especially guarded when driving into shaded areas, and decrease your speed during your approach in such areas. Arrive to and from your storage unit in Illinois safely.

There are other areas you should approach extra cautious. Besides areas with lack of sunlight, other areas that claim victims to wintery weather are bridges, overpasses and tunnels. If there are bridges, overpasses, and or tunnels on the way to your self storage unit in Illinois, avoid them by taking an alternate route or use extra caution.

If you are unfamiliar with your vehicles drive type, identify whether it is front or rear-wheel-drive. It makes a difference when driving under slippery conditions. Front-wheel-drive vehicles are more superior to rear wheel drive vehicles on slippery roads. The weight of the engine is on the drive wheels of front-wheel-drive cars, which helps to improve traction. On rear-wheel-drives there is virtually no weight on the back wheels of your car. The risk is high that your car will fishtail (slide side to side) during turns on snowy or icy roads. If you own a rear-wheel-drive car or truck, place bags of sand in the bed of the truck or trunk of the car to add weight to the rear wheels for extra traction. Save these bags of sand in your storage unit in Illinois during the warmer months and use them again in the future.

While in your owner's manual, check information regarding your braking system. Not all braking systems are the same. Identify which type of brakes your vehicle uses.

Anti-lock braking systems (ABS) is best on slick roads, if operated correctly. Drivers should apply steady pressure to the brake pedal during the entire stop. ABS will automatically pump the brakes, if necessary, to keep the wheels from locking. Never manually pump ABS brakes yourself. Apply only steady pressure continuously until you come to a complete stop.

On the contrary, cars without ABS brakes, you should gently apply pumping pressure to your brakes during slippery conditions. Do not apply steady pressure to your brakes. Steady pressure on your brakes will only lock up the wheels, and may result in your car spinning out of control.

No matter how slow and cautious you drive, you may find yourself in a skid. Handling skids is the same for front-wheel-drive and real-wheel-drive vehicles. If you are in a skid, slowly take your foot off the gas, but do not hit the brakes. Braking will make the skid worse. Gently turn your steering wheel in the direction that your rear wheels are sliding, but don't turn too sharply. Before you put your car in gear, improve your visibility by wiping all snow and ice from your vehicle. While you are at it, remove ice and snow from the hood, the roof, the trunk, the turn signals, the tail lights, the headlights, the windows, and the mirrors. Ice sheets may blow off from the top of your car, and could be dangerous to other motorists on the road if you fail to clean the snow off your car.Low beams provide better visibility during a snow or ice storm. Use the low beams rather than the high beams.

If other motorists seem to be in a hurry on the way to a storage unit in Illinois, don't be intimidated by aggressive drivers. Maintain a speed that you are comfortable with. If possible, find a safe area to pull over and let them pass. You don't need them to hit you in the rear for their foolishness when their car fails to stop in slippery conditions. Allow yourself for greater stopping distances. Give 8-10 seconds between you and the vehicle in front of you during slippery conditions.

Uphill driving on ice is a bit tricky. Locate a path that will allow the most traction, usually on unpacked snow. Watch vehicles in front of you for the slippery areas to avoid where they spin wheels or slide about. Decrease speed before curves and turns to maintain control of your car. Sudden acceleration or deceleration during a turn will send you into a skid.

The biggest mistake that most inexperienced wintery weather drivers make is applying the brakes while driving on ice. Our instincts tell us to hit the brakes when out of control, but our instincts are wrong. Brakes add fuel to the fire when driving on ice. When approaching ice patches, brake during the approach, not on the ice.

If you get stuck in a patch of snow or ice on your way to your storage unit in Illinois, there are ways to get out if help is unavailable. First and most important, do not spin your wheels. This will only dig you in deeper - you will dig your self in a deeper hole, in a manner of speaking, literally. Instead, turn your wheels from side to side a few times to push snow out of the way and then, try to proceed with a light tap on the gas, to ease your car out. If you packed one, use a shovel to clear snow away from the wheels and underneath the car. Get a hold of the sand or kitty litter that you should have pack in your safety kit. Pour the sand or kitty litter in the path of the wheels. If you neglected to pack sand or kitty litter because you left it at your storage unit in Illinois, find some gravel as a substitute.

The people from self storage industry, call center, self storage business, storage association

All things considered, you should avoid driving if you can to your storage unit in Illinois during snowy, rainy, or icy weather. Wait for the snow plows and sander trucks to finish their work. Your possessions are as safe as they ever were in storage. If it is an emergency to retrieve something out of your storage unit in Illinois during extreme weather conditions, please be alert of other drivers and use the advice provided above by your storage insider.

The people from the self storage industry and the call center want you to be safe this winter, especially when driving to your storage unit in Illinois. You can find more advice on storage and on self storage trends on one of the many self storage blog websites. Not only is it time to get your safety kit out, it's time to retrieve your shovel and other winter supplies too from your storage unit in Illinois.

Can you use ice Hockey Skates boot for roller hockey?

I wanted to know if I can put roller hockey chasis on a pair of my Bauer One95 skates?

You sure can,
I had this done with Graf 705's many years ago. Make sure they use the copper rivets though to keep the chassis in place though, they're a lot stronger than the black ones.

The Moccasin Goalie

Danny and his friends, Anita, Petou and Marcel, are typical prairie youngsters -- hockey mad. The four are always playing road hockey or involved in a game of shinny on the community rink. One day a town team, the Wolves, is formed. The friends are overjoyed but, when the time comes to choose the team, only Marcel is picked. The other three friends are not chosen; Anita is a girl, Petou is too small and Danny cannot skate. It's the biggest disappointment of Danny's life. But, near the end of the season, the regular goalie is injured and Danny is asked to replace him. If the Wolves win the game, they will make the play-offs! This is Danny's chance to prove that, even though he can't wear a pair of skates, he can still play the game.

How Things Have Changed

The first artificial ice rink (mechanically refrigerated) was built in 1876 at Chelsea, London and was named the Glaciarium, with none of the modern techniques of today however things have changed and the modern ice rinks are kept clean and smooth by the use of a machine called the ‘Zamboni’

The first game of ice hockey was played in Montreal, Canada with Canadian J.G.A. Creighton’s rules devised in 1875, and today ice hockey is the most popular team sport played on ice.

Equipment has evolved from years ago to make it much safer and ‘fit for purpose’ for example the first goalie’s leg pads were made from cricket pads, and the early mask designed in 1929 was made of leather, and did not have much protection.  Sticks were made of wood only, and ice hockey skates did not have the stiff heel for support thus making skating a lot more difficult than it is today.

Today hockey equipment has changed and is much stronger, and safer for the player, the helmets of today have to meet certain standards, some players also wear visors on the helmets, and sticks are made of aluminum and plastic moving away from early models, and lastly the modern skates have steel blades, and are concave and not flat, this gives the skate two sharp edges, thus giving the player all the moves that is imperative in a fast game like hockey.

A player today can get the best in either inline or ice Hockey Skates, and every imaginable piece of equipment to keep them safe in this ever popular sport at Crazy Kenny’s online shop which is the best provider of ice hockey equipment in the UK, you will find it all at Crazy Kenny’s, stocking a full range of ice hockey skates, inline hockey skates, helmets, shoulder pads and every single piece of equipment to keep you safe on the ice, not only for the professional but if you are taking to the ice for the first time purely for pleasure you will need equipment to keep you safe should you have a fall.

Go online to browse through what is on offer at a fantastic price tag then you are ready to take to the ice.

Canada Gets A Scare From The Swiss!

Team Canada skated to a 3-2 overtime shoot-out win over the Swiss! Canada's poster boy Sidney Crosby was the hero scoring the lone goal in the shoot-out on his second attempt in the grueling goaltending battle.

Team Switzerland beat Canada in the 2006 Olympics and came very close to repeating the feat again in the 2010 Games. In the best game thus far in Men's Ice Hockey play I have to admit I was on the edge of my seat in this one. Great Hockey Period!

Team Switzerland with only two NHL'ers among their squad and a big underdog in the match, their key to their point earned in the standings was Anaheim Mighty Ducks starting goalie NHLer Jonas Hiller. One of the two NHL players on the Swiss squad. Forget the Shoot-out he was the star of the game keeping his heavily over matched team in this game and giving his countrymen a chance.

Huge saves while the game was tied at two Hiller made. Canada exploded with a of flurry of shots with his catching glove stopping play. Jonas Hiller faced 47 total shots in the memorable game.

Canada built a 2-0 lead on goals by San Jose Sharks Stars Dany Heatley and Patrick Marleau. But the determined Swiss team made it a one goal game at the 8:59 mark and capitalized on a Chris Pronger retaliation hit with the refs arm up for a penalty, the Swiss forward threw the puck at the net and it would deflect off a Canadian skate with only:10 to tie the game at two.

Period three would see a barrage of Canadian shots on goal out shooting their opponents 18-3. Jonas was the difference if I already didn't mention that in this article. Words described BIG BIG BIG.

Switzerland would escape the third period and actually out shoot Canada in the four on four over time session 3-1 and just like in the NHL a shoot out was needed.

Oh did we forget to mention Martin Broduer played goal for Canada tonight? Well if we did he was good for stopping all four of the Swiss shoot-out attempts and stopping 22 of 24 in regulation and overtime.

Did he just get the nod for the huge game against the US of A on Sunday night? Or will Canada go back to Roberto Luongo?

Broduer's play in the game against the Swiss, his seniority, reputation, 3 Stanley Cups and a Gold Medal should get him approved for the game against the Americans.

The winner get's a bye in round two of the Tournament.

Is it Luongo or Broduer? Will Mark Andre Flurey get a start? Canada's goaltending is deep and something to talk about.
