Inline blades: mission bsx or vector 02 ???

i need some some hockey rollerblades for pickup streethockey games and just cruisin around town. my budget is tight so ive found the mission bsx's, which go for around $100 and the ccm vector 02's, which go for around $115....any ideas??? i'll probably use them to prepare for my seasons on the ice as well ,but not strenuous training...just getting back in business.....

I've always worn CCM for ice hockey and I love them. I had CCM Black Tacks and now CCM Pro Tacks. CCM makes a great skate.

I've never tried Mission, but I hear good things about them.

If you're buying online make sure you try on the skate (or a similar skate in the same brand) prior to purchase. Skate sizes can be very deceiving. Mission (I think) run pretty close to standard shoe sizing, but CCM is about 2 sizes off. When wearing the skate you want to be as close to filling it out as possible without actually hitting your toes on the front of the boot.

I wear a size 4.5 CCM Pro Tack and women's size 7.5 shoe (men's 6.5).

Rollerblading in UK - London?

Hey, I'm going in UK - London on wednesday for three months - babysitting.
I was thinking if it is a good idea to bring rollerblades with me since it's a nice way of transport - do they allow you to shop with rollerblades (here it's allowed)????

Rollerblades can be used on the pavement as long as you take care and give way to pedestrians. Using them inside shops however is not usually accepted and you maybe asked to take them off. Its at the shops discretion.

To be honest, with so much traffic in London, rollerblades may not be the safest form of transport. Why don't you just do what everyone else does and buy a monthly Travelcard, giving you unlimited travel on the Tube, DLR, Buses, Trams and Overground for the entire month. Is it hard to make the transition between Hockey Skates and powerslides?

I have been skating with inline rollerblades for 9 years. The ones I'm used to are the regular boot that comes up on your leg about 5 inches. The wheels are 80mm with an 85a softtness. I'm about to buy some powerslides with lowcut boots and 110mm wheels, same softness.

I've already taught myself how to double push on turns and going forward with these regular inlines, so do you think it'll be hard to start using powerslides?

Hardness of the wheels will be unimportant.

Powerslide is just one of many makers of inline racing skates. The big difference (assuming that you have reasonable skill and will be able to handle the large wheels) will be the lack of support by the racing boots.

I know people who have loosened all the cuff fastening buckles and laces to prepare for racing boots. Also know people who found that they could only skate for 15 - 30 minutes at first on the racing boots instead of hours on other skates. That went away as their ankle muscles became stronger and able to support them better.

A trick to try is to put your 80mm wheels on the frames first to get your ankles used to the short boot without the additional leverage of the 110mm wheels.
From what I have been hearing from my racing friends, 110mm may be too big for some people.

Rollerblading Safety Measures in any Location

Rollerblading is a wonderful sport and great exercise to keep you physically fit. People from all walks of life enjoy rollerblading simply because it is easy and fun. Family Money Crunch – Who Can You Turn to for Help?

  C.  Credit Cards: - The most tempting ploy by the banks is to give you a credit card. The rate is very low or 0% for a while, until you charge everything on the card.  Then, the rate can go as high as 29.95% - this makes it impossible to every pay off the balance.  Rule of thumb - a credit card is for emergencies or something you can pay back within 3 monthly installments.  If you can't pay for it within three months with your budgeted funds - don't buy it! 

HOW DO I GET OUT OF CREDIT CARD DEBT? -          

  1. Put the card away today.  Do not add new charges.      

   2. Put at least 20% more into your monthly payment than the minimum payment says - this will start to chip away at the balance.           

 3. Follow this with all extra budget money until the card is paid in full.  Do not put money in "savings" until the card is paid - your savings does not earn 29.95%, but your credit card balance costs you 29.95% - pay off the balance before you start your savings plan.

My ice Hockey Skates don't seem right. Can the angle of the skate change everything?

I've been using a pair of Easton Ultra Lite's for years. When they needed an upgrade I got the Easton Synthesis. I like the skates but I can't seem to get an edge when I skate. I feel like i'm slipping all over the place and can't get any grip on the ice. They have been sharpened by the same people who have done my old ones. And I even changed the runner from my old skate and the same problem persits. Is it the angle of the boot? Someone please help me with this.

Yes the angle of the skates completely changes the position of your body and how you skate. when i changed from a Bauer skate to a Reebok skate i was at least a month before i got used to the new brand. Im not so sure about the easton skates and i'm not sure why its a big problem when you stayed with the same brand.
