Inline blades: mission bsx or vector 02 ???
i need some some hockey rollerblades for pickup streethockey games and just cruisin around town. my budget is tight so ive found the mission bsx's, which go for around $100 and the ccm vector 02's, which go for around $115....any ideas??? i'll probably use them to prepare for my seasons on the ice as well ,but not strenuous training...just getting back in business.....
I've always worn CCM for ice hockey and I love them. I had CCM Black Tacks and now CCM Pro Tacks. CCM makes a great skate.
I've never tried Mission, but I hear good things about them.
If you're buying online make sure you try on the skate (or a similar skate in the same brand) prior to purchase. Skate sizes can be very deceiving. Mission (I think) run pretty close to standard shoe sizing, but CCM is about 2 sizes off. When wearing the skate you want to be as close to filling it out as possible without actually hitting your toes on the front of the boot.
I wear a size 4.5 CCM Pro Tack and women's size 7.5 shoe (men's 6.5).

Old Curiosity Shop, The (2007)(DVD) $18.95 Based on Dickens classic novel The Old Curiosity Shop tells the tale of Little Nell Trent (Sophie Vavasseur) who lives with her doting grandfather (Jacobi) in his London shop. It is a magical place, filled from wall to wall with dust-laden treasures, known as The Old Curiosity Shop. Grandfather keeps his nocturnal gambling activities a secret, borrowing heavily from evil, profiteering loan shark Daniel Quilp (Jones). When he gambles away what little money they possess, Quilp seizes the opportunity to take possession of their beloved shop. It seems Nell and Grandfather are left with only one option - to escape. The pair fall in with a number of colourful characters, some villainous and some affectionate, on the run from Quilp and his band of misguided money seekers, including Nells own wastrel brother Freddie (Dick) and his gullible friend Dick Swiveller (Breton). |

First Date Tips and Conversation Starters
One of the things that many singles have difficulty with is talking with a new person or going out on a first date. Whether it is chatting with someone that you met online or going on a blind date, these experiences can sometimes be uncomfortable and stressful. Here are some tips on first date ideas, as well as starting a conversation up and keeping it going.
First Date Ideas
For most people, the goal of a first date is to meet a person and to figure out if you are either interested or compatible with that person. While a first date doesn't have to be a perfect 10 to know that there can be something in the future with this person, most people just want it to go positively.
One of the best places to go for a first date is to a coffee shop. Coffee shops are great, because you can sit and talk to one another. You won't get to know each other sitting in a darkened movie theater staring at a screen for two hours. Coffee shops are usually made for conversation; they are affordable for singles on a budget and located in convenient locations. Plus you can meet during the evening or even schedule a lunch date.
If you find that you are not that sociable or pretty quiet when you date, you might want to set up a date where you both do an activity. First dates such as bowling, rollerblading or ice skating are a great way to meet someone new and if the conversation slows down, you can focus on your activity. You can take this idea one step further and instead of doing an athletic based activity, you can choose a cultural activity, such as an exhibition, visiting a museum or enjoying a live musical performance.
Ultimately, your goal is to figure out if you enjoy this person's company, so choose dates that fit your style and personality, while also giving you an opportunity to get to know someone new.
Conversation Starters
Let's face it; it can be very difficult to start a conversation with someone that you don't know at all or very well. While there are people that are experts and can make friends with anyone, most people usually find themselves tongue tied or speechless at certain moments. One of the ways to avoid this obstacle is to remember common and easy to use conversation starters.
First off, conversations starters are not closed ended sentences that require no input from the other person; they are open ended questions or statements that invite the other person to share their thoughts. You don't have to ask very smart questions, you can just engage in small comfortable chit chat that gets you both talking, eventually, this small chit chat will lead to a more meaningful and interesting conversation. Some of the most common conversation starts are; how was your weekend? Have you been to a specific place before (the restaurant or coffee shop that you are at)? What area are you from originally? W school or college did you attend? You can also talk about movies, music, favorite television shows, etc. The goal is to relax and feel comfortable conversing with the other person, once relaxed and comfortable, the conversation will usually flow.

Is it hard to make the transition between Hockey Skates and powerslides?
I have been skating with inline rollerblades for 9 years. The ones I'm used to are the regular boot that comes up on your leg about 5 inches. The wheels are 80mm with an 85a softtness. I'm about to buy some powerslides with lowcut boots and 110mm wheels, same softness.
I've already taught myself how to double push on turns and going forward with these regular inlines, so do you think it'll be hard to start using powerslides?
Hardness of the wheels will be unimportant.
Powerslide is just one of many makers of inline racing skates. The big difference (assuming that you have reasonable skill and will be able to handle the large wheels) will be the lack of support by the racing boots.
I know people who have loosened all the cuff fastening buckles and laces to prepare for racing boots. Also know people who found that they could only skate for 15 - 30 minutes at first on the racing boots instead of hours on other skates. That went away as their ankle muscles became stronger and able to support them better.
A trick to try is to put your 80mm wheels on the frames first to get your ankles used to the short boot without the additional leverage of the 110mm wheels.
From what I have been hearing from my racing friends, 110mm may be too big for some people.

What size should i get for rollerblades?
Hi. I want to know if i should get a size 7(UK) for my new Rollerblade Bladerunner Pro 78 Mens Inline Skates that I want to get. Please help because I don't know if I need a size smaller or bigger.
Only way to buy skates if there are no shops nearby to try them on.
Order online from inlinewarehouse or other store that has a liberal return policy. Order several sizes up front. Try them on for comparison and return what doesn't fit. DO NOT SKATE ON THEM. If you do, the wheels will show wear, and the will be un-returnable. Just stay on carpeted floors.
You want the skates to be as tight as possible around the ankle without causing pain after being on for at least ten minutes. If there is movement now, it will just get looser as time goes on. At that point moving up or down will cause blisters.

Rollerblading Safety Measures in any Location
Rollerblading is a wonderful sport and great exercise to keep you physically fit. People from all walks of life enjoy rollerblading simply because it is easy and fun. Coupled with this enjoyment of rollerblading are some important safety measures that you need to follow to avoid accidents or injuries.
Certain situations are beyond your control but that does not mean you should throw all caution to the wind. You may take a nasty spill every now and then where you may suffer minor injuries such as scraped knees or bruised hands. Or you may suffer more serious injuries such as a collision or concussion from rollerblading. So it is absolutely critical that you use the proper safety rollerblading gear to avoid these injuries.
Rollerblade helmet is the most important piece of rollerblade protective equipment for rollerblading. Never ever rollerblade without securing your helmet on first to avoid serious head injuries. Make sure that the helmet is of good quality and that it fits your head properly. Oversized rollerblade helmets are no good because it provides no protection whatsoever. On the other hand small helmets are too tight and too uncomfortable. The interior lining of the helmet should be lined with cushioned padding for comfort and protection.
Other rollerblading safety tips include:
1. Get the complete rollerblading protective gear such as wrist guards, elbow pads and kneepads
Each gear has its own specific safety function, and they are all designed to protect the main parts of your body from injuries and impact in case you land or fall accidentally. Not using these protective gears may result in a bruised knee or broken wrist etc.
2. Learn the rollerblading basics first before you go on roads
To avoid accidents, you should practice the basics such as rollerblading forward, stopping and turning before you decide to rollerblade on the road.
3. Self-control and speed control matters
Be aware of your surroundings especially when you are rollerblading on the road. If you are rollerblading too fast, then slow down. You will be prone to accident if you do not learn how to control your speed.
4. Watch out for road signs and road hazards
Watch out for potholes or cracks on the road, or for slippery oil or water patches, as missing these dangers might cause you to fall.
5. Always be courteous to fellow rollerbladers and pedestrians
You do not own the road; you share it with other rollerbladers and pedestrians, so be polite and courteous.
6. Traffic rules should still prevail
Follow traffic rules such as stopping at the red light when crossing the road in case oncoming cars do not see you.
Bear in mind that rollerblading is a great sport but could also be dangerous. As long as you keep the above safety tips in mind, rollerblading is a fun and enjoyable activity.

Different Types of Rollerskates
Unless you're a roller skating guru, you might not be aware of the different types of rollerskates that are available and what they are designed to do. Among the different roller skate types you will find are Artistic, Jam, Speed, Derby, and Rhythm. Depending on what style of quad skating you plan on doing, you will want to get the appropriate skate style for it.
Artistic Skates
Artistic skates are used in many different skating disciplines, but the easiest comparison is to that of a figure skate used on ice. Artistic roller skates are composed of a leather boot, very strong sole plate, and a jump bar that adds additional reinforcement. Like ice skating, an Artistic skate is used on a roller skating surface for single free skate, pairs skating, solo dance, pairs dancing, precision or synchronized skating, and show teams. Although each of these skate disciplines is different, the common thread that they share is the use of an Artistic style quad skate.
Artistic skaters need a skate that is strong enough to withstand the force that is exerted on the skate when jumping or landing. The boot on artistic skates is higher than those found on other quad skates. The boot sits a few inches above the ankle providing more support and stability for the foot.
Jam Skates
Jam skates are different than any other type of rollerskate because of its unique low-cut design and lack of toe stop, that's right, no brake. The original jam skate design was actually much different, resembling an artistic skate with a high-cut artistic-style boot and tradition toe stop brake. However, over the years, the design has transformed into a skate that resembles the picture to the right. The modern skate design features a low-cut speed skate boot and a dance plug in placement of the toe stop. They feature lightweight frames for fast, agile movement for the skating style associated with jam skating.
As a skating style, Jam skating is a combination of dance, gymnastics, and skating. Jam skating's roots stem from the roller disco days of the 1970s, but over time it has evolved and been influenced by multiple sources of artistic outlet. Modern dance, artistic skating, and break dancing have all contributed to the jam skating style of today. For jam skaters, jam skating is more about personal expression rather than aggressive or speed type of skating. The free flowing movements of jam skating have been given countless names such as hexing, shuffle skating, toe-skating, and spot skating. But regardless of its name, jam skating has always been about expression and passion.
Speed Skates
Most people instinctively think inline skates when they hear speed skates. The truth is that speed skates are available in both inline and quad form. While inline speed skating is more common and more widely recognized, quad speed skating is extremely popular. A speed skate features a boot design that more closesly resembles a shoe. A speed skate will fit closely to the fott and have very little padding, increasing the foot to boot ratio. The cut of the boot is lower and will usually sit around the ankle bone, or underneath it. The design of a speed skate creates tremendous maneuverability and freedom of movement.
From a usage standpoint, speed skates are intended to be used in lap skating, time trials, sprints, relays and marathons. They typically offer lightweight plates to reduce fatigue for skating long distances. In recent years, jam skaters have also taken to speed skates because they offer a similar design and freedom of movement. The most notable difference being that a speed skate features a toe stop, unlike a jam skate that uses a toe plug.
Derby Skates
Roller derby is a worldwide sport that many people know about, but may not fully understand. While I won't go into detail about the particulars of the sport, just know that roller derby is a contact sport that utilizes strategy and strength to win. Derby skates are designed specifically for use in the sport of roller derby, though they resemble the everyday rollerskate design.
Derby skates feature a low-cut boot design with a lace up closure and Velcro strap to properly position and fasten the foot in place. The boot design itself has more padding than a speed or jam skate so that it can withstand the bashing and bumping that roller derby entails. Derby skates can also be equipped with accessories to protect against injury, as can be see with the skate to the right.
Rhythm Skates
Similar to a Jam skate, Rhythm skates are designed for dancing, shuffle skating, and slides. The difference between a Rhythm skate and a Jam skate is most evident in the boot design. Unlike a Jam skate boot, a Rhythm skate boot is not low cut. In fact, the boot design looks very similar to an Artistic skate, essentially providing you with the ankle support benefits of an Artistic skate, but the freedom of movement of a Jam skate.
Rhythm skates do not have a traditional toe stop brake, but instead features a dance plug like a Jam skate. If you want a skate that allows you to move to the beat, with added ankle support, the Rhythm skate is the ideal choice.
Now that you have all the ammunition to make your choice of what type of skating you are mainly interested in take a look at the skate styles to see what type of skate best suits you. Get out and get rollerskating today! If you are ready to pick up a new pair, go to RollerSkates.net. You can find many different styles, colors, and sizes at every price range.

Heelys
Heelys are a brand of Roller shoes (marketed by Heelys, Inc.) that have one or more wheels embedded in each sole, similar to inline skates. Thus, the wearer can walk, run, or, by shifting their weight to their heels, roll. Braking can be achieved by lowering the back of the foot so that sole contacts the ground. Generally, "Heeling" is a form of skating, and as such may not be allowed in some places, including schools. In February 2007, Yeovil Town Council were the first English council to ban their use.
white tightsOver one million pairs of the shoes were sold in their first year alone. Roger Adams patented Heelys in late 2000.
The journal of the American Academy of Pediatrics published a study of injuries resulting from the use of Heelys (and Street Gliders, a similar product that is strapped on to regular shoes). The study counted only significant injuries that required assessment by an orthopedic surgeon, ignoring minor injuries that were treated solely in the emergency department. The 10-week study (conducted during summer school holiday), found:
An injury rate of approximately 51 injuries per 100,000 children (for injuries requiring orthopedic attention; the rate for less-serious injuries is unknown,[2] but presumably much higher). For comparison, in 1997 the United States, nonfatal dog bites required 151 emergency department visits per 100,000 population (including adults).[3]
Injuries ranged from dislocations to displaced arm fractures (including one patient with this injury in both arms).
38% of the injuries requiring hospital admission and general anesthesia to manipulate fractured bones.
34% of the injuries were suffered by children using Heelys (or Street Gliders) for the very first time. 70% had used the products five or fewer times.
The injuries comprised 8% of the workload for the pediatric orthopedic department.
12% of the injured children were familiar with the instructions for use of the products.
Although the manufacturer says, "While protective gear is not required, we highly recommend its use when the wheels are in the shoes,"[4] most users do not wear such gear, largely because these shoes are worn for everyday use[2] (unlike more specialized sporting equipment such as inline skates).
For people who have attained a degree of technical skill and proficiency with the sneakers, Heelys, Inc. provides sponsorships with "Team Heelys". Also, these people get free heelys, wheels, and get paid to go to demos. They also get paid access to practice in skateparks, even some parks that charge an entrance fee. There is a National Pro team for Heelys which consists of David Chau, Hailey H., Brian M., AJ Roth, Danny M., Mikey D., Shawn P., Austin P., Britton M.
Advanced Heelys users can perform tricks such as spins, backwards skating and skating on one foot.
There are four categories of tricks used in heeling: flatland tricks, grinding tricks, stalling tricks and vert tricks.
Ground tricks - the main category of tricks used in heeling.
Grinds - these tricks can only be performed if the model has a nylon pad in the shoe, it involves jumping on a surface, landing on the nylon pad and sliding across the surface.
Stalls - generally involves jumping on to a raised object and pausing before jumping off and heeling once more. One stall is the joe stall.
Vert - any type of tricks performed on a vert ramp.

Skateboard Bearings – The Different Types
Skateboard bearings are an essential part when it comes to skateboards and to how they ride. The better the bearings the faster they travel and the smoother they are which makes it easier to ride which in turn makes it easier for the rider.
There are many different brands of skateboard bearings to choose from, all varying in price and quality: Bones, Flip, Lucky, Reflex, Independent, Shortys, and World Industries. Bones and Swiss Bones are considered to be the best bearings you can get for your skateboard and many of the professionals use these which is mirrored in the price for them of up to £75. If you are a beginner you are better off getting a lower end priced set of bearings for under £10. Your bearings can be become damaged if you do not look after them properly and from the way you ride the skateboard and so for beginners it is better if you use ‘beginners’ bearings to accommodate your learning to skateboard and your wallet.
What are Skateboard Bearings Made Out Of?
Skateboard bearings are usually made from a few different materials. Stainless steel and chromium steel are usually the main metals the bearings are made out of, the retainer maybe nylon or stainless steel, and the ball steel or ceramic steel. Depending on your requirements skateboard bearings can be made out of rubber, metal or Teflon. All bearings have the option of coming sealed with metal protection shields or open. People buy sealed bearings because dust and dirt can get inside the bearing and cause them to not run properly and then lead to failure. The protective coating prolongs the life of the bearing and how well it rides.
Thrust Bearings for your Skateboard – The New Age Skateboard
Carver, a famous brand of skateboards, have developed a skateboard that has the smoothest ride ever and can handle hard hitting drops that most skateboards can’t. It was actually found by mistake but they have designed a new skateboard that doesn’t use the standard ball bearing but thrust bearings. What does this mean? It means that usually when you hard hit a surface after a jump your skateboard gives way and doesn’t follow you once you have hit the surface which means you hit the floor. Thrust bearings means they can handle these hard hitting drops and go with you so you can carry on skating. Carver has been testing this skateboard for months now and the general public are eagerly awaiting its release.

The Martha Syndrome
“Martha, Martha”, He said. How many times have we Stress Junkies been a Martha?
To set the scene, and for those who may not know the story, Martha and Mary were sisters. They had a brother named Lazarus. Now Martha and Mary have a house in Bethany near Jerusalem, and their brother has invited some friends over for dinner. One of the friends is an important guy, a real man of the hour back then – his name is Jesus. He comes from a small town, his father was just a carpenter, his mother got pregnant before she was married, but this man has made a name for himself. Anyone who’s anyone wants to talk to him, listen to him, touch him, or be touched by him. If Today in Hollywood was on TV back then, he’d have the whole show every night!
So Martha and Mary are having company…I mean to say, a PARTY. Because Jesus always travels with his twelve closest friends, so that makes sixteen for dinner. Plus, Martha and Mary just HAVE TO invite some of their friends and neighbors just so everyone will see who they rub elbows with.
So much to do, so much to do! Big party to plan, prep and cook for. In those days, you couldn’t just order out or call the caterers; you had to do it all. The term potluck supper wasn't even coined yet! Water didn't come into the house, bread wasn't sold at the market. In fact, the grain had to be ground for the flour, the water had to be carried from the well, and the oven ran on wood and grasses that the women gathered. As for housekeeping, there were no companies like Merry Maid or Molly Maid. There was just Martha Maid and Mary Maid.
Now for those of you who don’t know Jesus personally, imagine the likes of Brad Pitt, Mother Teresa, Ronald Regan and Billy Graham ALL coming to your house at the same time - and still you haven’t even scratched the surface of this man Jesus.
To Stress Junkies like us, we know the routine for Martha. As soon as she learned that Jesus was coming, she went into high gear planning the menu, scrubbing, mopping, dusting, tidying. Of course, there are invitations to send, shopping to do, food to prepare…the list seemingly endless. And why not, she’s the older sister, the practical one, the responsible one. It’s what she does.
The big day arrives, and we can picture the house…it’s clean, fresh and orderly with sunlight streaming through the windows. There’s bowls of snack food, fruit and flowers out and about, cool drinks and the smell of delicious foods coming from the kitchen. Guests begin to arrive and who’s there to greet them? Little sister, Mary – the one who’s chosen to sit at Jesus’ feet and listen. The one who most likely sits among the guests at all the parties. Sure, she did a little prep work this morning…at her sister Martha’s insistence. But now, the party has begun, and she’s choosing the “one thing”, the “good thing” as Jesus later puts it.
Martha’s in the kitchen. She slaves away over hot pots in a hot room. She sets the table, brings out trays of food, refills glasses…Mary sits at the feet of the guest of honor, listening, laughing. She’s enjoying the time. Martha, well, she finally loses it. She complains to Jesus that Mary should come and help her.
Jesus responds, “Martha, Martha, you are worried and troubled about many things…” - Luke 10:41 NKJ
So she is:
1. Worried (careful – in the KJ)
2. Troubled (bothered – NASB, upset – NIV)
3. About MANY things
Picture this, you’ve been killing yourself for days, everyone is in YOUR house, eating YOUR food, and drinking YOUR wine. This party is all about Jesus, and here he is, he’s putting YOU on the carpet for making sure everything is perfect? And in front of EVERYONE – his friends, your friends, your sister! WOW!
And get this part, more than likely Jesus is not limiting his observation to just this day and time. He says “many things”. He’s knows Martha has a bigger problem. One that leaves her helplessly devoted to cooking, cleaning, serving, worrying, hurrying, and troubled. Martha, my dear friends, was a Stress Junkie! Martha could very well be the very first recorded Stress Junkie, proving that we are not the product of a fast society. We are a product of ourselves, our personality, our decisions; for if Martha, who lived two thousand years ago, was Type A, then there’s no blaming society for our problem.
We all know the symptoms. I mean, when was the last time that you sat and enjoyed a party at your house? Was there EVER a time? When was the last time you had a party or even guests for dinner that you didn’t pull out ALL your cookbooks to find something “special” to make? Ever? About that housekeeping, do you really think people are checking the corners, the baseboards, and inside the cabinets for dirt when they're at your house? I know what you're thinking...no, they don't check. And the reason they don't check is because they KNOW when they come to my house, it's clean. Believe me, guests may not notice what I do to prepare, but sure as hell, they'd notice if I DIDN'T do something.
I believe that was Martha's dilemma as well. She really really wanted to hang out with Jesus and the guests like her sister. In Martha's mind, if Mary had helped her, then maybe she'd have had the time to sit down and relax. Maybe so...but based on Jesus' take on her situation, probably wouldn't matter. Mary's help would just free Martha's time to go handle some other little detail.
So, what do we do with Martha? What do we do with ourselves? Should we be more like Mary? Can we be? There's no doubt that if you're reading this, you're the practical sister. You're the one who's easily distracted by many things that in your mind, HAVE to get done. Everyday tasks, household chores, work, kids, school, husband, church, PTA, soccer games, birthday parties, and so on and so on and so on...These things have to get done, right? And if not by you, then...frankly, by whom?
The answer is simpler said, than achieved. Remember when you were a kid and you wanted to learn how to ride without training wheels? What skill did you need to master? You also need it to roller skate, Ice Skate, walk a tight rope, actually, you need it just to stand up. It's called BALANCE. We Stress Junkies need to learn how to strike a balance between what needs to get done, and what HAS to be done. We need to take a few minutes out of each day to just stand still. That's right STAND STILL and pause. We need to take a moment or two out of every day to reflect on what's really important. That's all Jesus was saying to Martha. He wasn't bashing her for serving them, he was advising her to set priorities and take the needed time out to enjoy "one good thing", before her time was past.
Stress Junkies are notorious for always looking for what's next, rather than what's happening right now. Stop and smell the roses they say, and why not? Why not stop, smell the roses, and a writer friend so eloquently put it...while you're there, deadhead the spent blooms, pull a few weeds, and add some fertilizer. Strike a balance! Or at least for starters, admit one's needed and start there.

vapor xxxx elite bag (for hockey gear)?
I saw it on a website amongst the player bags and the dimensions seem to be big enough for my goalie gear. Question is, do yall think it'd be strong enough? I am currently using a Vapor goalie bag in the same dimensions but it was sold as a goalie bag whereas the XXXX is not. Your thoughts and insight please?
That's exactly the bag - thanks for providing the link Tomi .. regretfully the closest thing the Walmart in my town has to hockey is ice cubes to keep my Rum + Dr Pepper cold lmao!
I think it would be strong enough it is not the strength or the bag but the size of the bag a goalie bag is just bigger not stronger

Inline Roller Hockey - Getting Started
In the United States the sport of hockey doesn't receive near the same level of notoriety that other sports such as football, baseball, or even basketball receive…although we believe that it certainly should. However, that does not mean that the sport isn't immensely popular across the nation through ice and roller hockey leagues. In fact, hockey is one of the most popular organized sports across North America, and has been for well over 100 years.
Hockey leagues are offered nationwide at numerous hockey rinks, with most offering a variety of leagues for children and adults of all ages and skill levels. However, these leagues are not limited to solely ice hockey. As inline skating has gained in popularity over the past decades, so has the interest in Roller Hockey. All of the same basic rules apply to roller hockey that apply to ice hockey, with the only major variations existing in the playing surface and the type of skate you are using. Minor rule variations may exist from league to league, but the substance of the game is still very much the same.
There are many characteristics in the sport of roller hockey that make it vastly appealing to people of all ages. First, it is relatively inexpensive to become involved in when compared to ice hockey. Second, there are many leagues available that help make the competition level remain fairly even. Additionally, you can play the sport in any or all of the four seasons, regardless of your geographic location. Finally, you can put a team together of many of your friends who also enjoy the sport. There are many other reasons as well, but these are just some of the many.
If you are interested in becoming involved in roller hockey, you will need to purchase certain equipment to be eligible to play. The basic equipment is what you will need, any additional items are solely your decision:
- Roller Hockey Skates (no brake is required)
- Hockey Stick
- Hockey Gloves
- Hockey Helmet (with or without mask and HECC Approved)
- Hockey Shin Pads
- Hockey Elbow Pads
- Roller Hockey Pants
- Jock Strap (men) / Pelvic Protector (women)
Equipment Tips
An appealing characteristic of roller hockey is that is less expensive than ice hockey. The most important part in selecting your equipment is that you make sure it fits correctly. There is no sense in spending oodles of money on high-end equipment if it does not fit properly. Make sure your equipment fits properly, then worry about price if you so choose.
In that same mindset, a crucial purchase will be your roller hockey skates. Make certain that your skates feel comfortable and fit properly. If they are not comfortable and/or do not fit properly, you will be in lots of pain when you have to make those quick stops and turns.
If you are just starting in roller hockey, do not hesitate to save yourself a few bucks at first by just wearing some sweatpants over your shin pads. However, we strongly recommend that after a few times out that you purchase a pair of roller hockey pants. Roller hockey pants are lightweight, breathable, and reinforced in the knees and seams to be durable. Sweatpants are suitable in the beginning, but you will quickly find yourself sweating in places you never knew you could sweat.
Getting Started
If you are interested in getting started in roller hockey, but you don't know how, try starting with a friend or joining a league at your local roller hockey rink. You can search for a rink in your area by clicking here. Once you find a rink close to you, you are well on your way to seasons and seasons of fun.
